The 49th annual Cavalcade of Lights, which officially kicks off the festive season in Toronto.Thousands bundled up and headed down to Nathan Phillips Square on Saturday night to watch the lighting of the City’s very own Christmas tree (which, as is only proper for the official Christmas tree for a whole entire city, it stands at 18 metres tall); take in some spectacular fireworks as well as enjoy performances from some of Canada’s most showstopping acts like zero gravity circus and fireguy, as well as  take in the sounds of venerable musicians Ivana Santili, Sekou Lemumba, Crystal Shwanda, and perennial favourite rockers Sloan. Then lace up and participate in a public skating party under the stars.
