Mariame is the first artist signed to new minted record label N’we Jinan label a project that has finally been realized by Montreal rapper David Hodges it creation came about thanks to support from the Cree Nation Youth Council and the Cree Native Arts and Craft Association.

Aboriginal music has been penetrating mainstream music in recent years thanks to artists like A Tribe Called Red, Kinnie Star and Digging Roots putting their cultures music front and center.

N’we Jinan, the label, follows a compilation cd called N’we Jinan that Hodges made with the abundant talent that is available from the numerous Cree communities. Miriame, who is a 24 year old mother of two who has been performing for the better part of a decade was the logical choice as the first artist to be signed to the label.
