Crimson HurrahAfter every battle, there is only one victor left standing to celebrate.

After Wacken Metal Battle Canada, that one victor, was Crimson Shadows of Toronto.

This heavy metal band of brothers, viciously grueling through qualifier after qualifier, competitor after competitor, finally saw the spoils of war they were left with at the Opera House, Saturday, June 22.

The coveted prize of course, the chance to play in Wacken, Germany, at the Wacken Open Air festival on July 31, is now the prize that Crimson Shadows beholds.

After the victory was claimed, the band put out a thank you message to all the fans that believed in them and helped them win.

“We want to thank all you fans who have supported us through this whole competition, we wouldn’t have won without you!”Jimi Maltais - Crimson ShadowsLead singer and front man of Crimson Shadows, Jimi Maltais, is quite pleased with the outcome of the battle.

“It’s our biggest accomplishment as a band,” said Maltais. “We have the opportunity now to take ourselves to the next level.”

The band modestly praised their competition, highlighting their diversity in styles and talent. But they once again gave credit for their victory to their loyal and devoted followers and supporters.Ryan Hofing - Crimson Shadows“It was a great lineup of bands in the finals,” stated drummer Cory Hofing. “Anyone of them would’ve been great representation in the international competition.

“We have a devoted and completely awesome fan base, and they’re the reason we succeeded in all three rounds,” said Maltais.HollowThe group is ecstatic to be able to represent the Canadian metal music realm when they go to Wacken, Germany next month, and plan to practice hard and try their best, and claim that the rest is out of their control.

“Playing that stage is a dream come true for us,” said Maltais.Dissension DissensionBattling against fellow metal militias such as Adrenechrome, Hollow, Dissension and Vesperia, Crimson Shadows had no problem admitting the competition was tight, but they still managed to squeak through to claim the throne.
