Thousands peel off socks to go a day sans shoes

Submitted by on April 12, 2012 – 12:49 pmNo Comment

As part the annual One Day Without Shoes event, hundreds of Torontonians gathered at Dundas Square to strip down from the knees down. On March 10, a reported 7,000 people in countries around the world went barefoot to raise awareness of the impact a pair of shoes can have on a child’s life. As reported on the One Day Without website, shoes can help protect children who live in Third World nations from harmful disease and soil-transmitted infections. The 2012 installment marks the fifth year of One Day Without, which is hosted in over 25 countries, including Canada, where support for the charity event has been strong.
