Newest Rikers experiment lands band on the radio

The only thing experimental pop rockers Rikers, who bravely named their debut album Islands, don’t seem to have on their side is search engine optimization. Not to be confused with notorious Rikers Island prison, the tough-to-Google esoteric Peterborough quintet – a band that has admittedly claimed to “love Human League and Psychedelic Furs and also U2, Springsteen, INXS” – may very well be the next IT kids on the Canadian indie scene. Islands is an unabashed mix of anthemic pop songs and catchy, easy rock numbers, summed up nicely on “I’m On The Radio,” which marks the latest from Rikers’ Islands.
