Saskatchewan band grace cover of Rolling Stone

“We are kind of in the middle of nowhere,” said The Sheepdogs during Rolling Stone magazine’s Choose the Cover Contest, of the band’s humble Saskatchewan roots. “So that definitely makes it hard.”

Having now won the competition – at the same time becoming the first unsigned band to land the cover of the Rolling Stone – things may get easier for the country rocking four-pack.

The competition, which included a field of 16 indie acts, saw The Sheepdogs win a series of elimination rounds before claiming the crown – the magazine’s coveted cover.

“We’ve played some of the worst and some of the best shows,” the band told Rolling Stone. “It’s kind of a part of coming up as a band in Canada.”
