Die Mannequin back with first indie album
Earlier this year fans got a sample of what was to come with the first released single “Sucker Punch.” The song received polarized reviews based on the fact that some felt it wasn’t as heavy as previous works, but others love the new direction and sound the band is taking.
October 27 marked the CD release party at Cherry Colas in Toronto – the place they’ve called home since they started the band in 2005.
Care Failure and the gang were present to sign CDs and mingle with fans, while the album played for people’s listening pleasure. This is the band’s first release since their 2009 album Fino + Bleed which was released via Warner Music Canada – making Neon Zero their first indie release to date. And it must be said – it’s damn good to see them back, live and in full effect.
In a recent interview with 102.1 the Edge, Failure explained that they wanted to prove people wrong and come back stronger than ever.
“Proving people wrong is my favourite pastime,” said Care Failure. “I always feel like I have something to prove. It’s kind of in my DNA. I know people have been like, ‘Oh shit, what is Die Mannequin doing?’ Because I haven’t been in the forefront for the last few years. I’ve been regrouping. But now I’m back.”
