Kelis came to Toronto and gave fans Food to eat
She stopped by The Hoxton in Toronto in June to give fans a taste of the new tracks that dropped last April and they were definitely digging it. The show was originally supposed to be at the Danforth Music Hall which also would’ve been a suitable venue, but the Hoxton did just as well.
It was great to see her perform in full effect, considering her music has become a mere sidebar in her life right now. She’s been focusing on her successful new venture as a chef with her own cookbook and Cooking Channel special.It’s not that she doesn’t love making music, because she does, and she is damn good at it as she’s proved for over a decade now. She just doesn’t enjoy getting caught up in the all-consuming nature of the beast that is the music industry.
She showed a full-capacity crowd that she definitely still enjoys her soulful music and performing it live. She danced and sang enthusiastically, tracks old and new, and her energy was up from beginning to end.
Not that this was to be our last chance of seeing her live, but future performances may be few and far between.Although rumours have been circulating that she may be giving up music entirely, she has refuted the rumour in recent interviews. She claims simply that she might slow down slightly, and still create music at her own leisure.
She’s going to be making more gravy in the sauce business, release her own line of sexy new line of gourmet sauces titled Feast. On stage it’ll always be her Milkshake” that brings the boys to the yard, but in the kitchen, her sauces are keeping the foodies coming back for more.A talented woman in all her pursuits, it would be a shame to see the New York City native stop serving it up on stage, but it would be just has much of a shame to see such cooking talent going to waste.
So whether we see her on stage or in the kitchen, the dish will always be hot and leave the fans wanting more – one thing is for sure, we haven’t seen the last of Kelis.
