Veld electrified Toronto’s Downsview Park again

Submitted by on August 10, 2013 – 7:01 pmNo Comment

Bacardi TentVeld music festival hit Toronto’s Downsview Park for the second consecutive year, back by popular demand after last year’s hugely successful inaugural debut.

Showcasing today’s best in electronic pop music, dubstep, house and trance music, Veld serves up a little something for everyone who loves glow sticks and fog machines.

This year’s festival was headlined by none other than Deadmau5, who also headlined his hometown show last year, with sidekicks Steve Aoki, Above & Beyond, Kaskade, Krewella, and Steve Angelo.

Some fans were even adorning GoPros to capture the event in live action format.krewella4 krewella2 krewella crowd krewella1 (1)The huge compound houses five digits worth of fans easily, and the most popular of the attractions besides the main stage was the Barcardi Tent with drinks and artists like Dillon Francis and Pretty Lights performing then doing meet and greets.

There was a torrential flow of people constantly coming and going from the Bacardi tent up until Digweed took to the stage.Bacardi tent atmosphere1 (1) victor calderone Bacardi tent atmosphere4 (2)Five to eight thousand people might not seem like a lot compared to the masses that were gathered at the main stage but for those who know it was just right. Giving all in attendance room to dance and enjoy the melodic beats that Digweed was masterfully mixing.

Tenaglia started off by thanking all those who played before him in the tent on this day and then apologized because he would be doing one of his shortest sets in history only ninety minutes.

Tenaglia, wasting no time, went all in and created a vibe that was second to none.

As you looked out into the crowd you saw smiles, furry boots and booty shorts dancing up a storm.

Back out on the main stage Above & Beyond destroyed their set ending Saturday’s festivities. Sunday was closed out with Deadmau5 doing what he does best, gathering the largest crowd possible and getting them completely lost and entranced in his psychedelic beats and hypnotizing bass rhythms.Above & Beyond As has become customary at his shows, fans were laced in glow sticks and neon clothing reflecting the spotlights, and some even sporting Deadmau5 mouse helmets like his.deadmau5 deadmau5 crowdAt different points during Tenaglia’s set you could see him showing the crowd love and they in turn sent it right back at him. At the end of his set he thanked the faithful fans that had gathered and went on the ninety-minute musical odyssey with him.

The best part of the tent shows was, that it was all about the music, all the day’s DJs who performed in tent, but Digweed and Tenaglia was one of the best 1-2 DJ duos you could ever hope for.atmosphere2 Bacardi tent atmosphere7 Legendary Danny Tenaglia with fansWhen all was said and done Tenaglia came down from the stage met fans, took photos, and signed autographs.

All in all, Veld was once again, as anticipated, another huge success. This festival is here to stay Toronto, so start booking time off and buying tickets early for next year’s.
