Spewgore - Stephen Macpherson (left) and Ken Gibson (right) Wednesday, May 22, marked another qualifying round at the Hard Luck Bar in Toronto of Wacken Metal Battle Canada, this time, with Spewgore coming out as the number one contender for the semifinals.

After an intense display of metal prowess from five local metal bands: Spewgore, Vesperia, Nephelium, Empyrean Plague and Answer With Metal.

Every band gave it their all, but the judges and fans spoke at the end, putting the night’s crown on Spewgore.

Vesperia also qualified to go on to the semifinal battle.VesperiaNow, only a few bands remain to battle it out in the semifinals that take place Friday, May 31 at the Hard Luck again, and June 7 at the Rivoli.

Should be a pretty tight battle. Between the likes of Crimson Shadows, Adrenechrome, and now Spewgore and Vesperia, the competition and talent are rampant.

The quest to reach Wacken, Germany is reaching its end, and soon a winner will be crowned. Stay tuned to find out the final results after the semifinal battles conclude the one and only victor of this coveted prize.Spewgore singer Bill BrownAtmospherePhotos by Tee Onek, story by Devin Size.
