Famous musicians hit the studio to fight bullying
If there is such a thing as taking positive from a tragedy, the suicide of Port Coquitlam, B.C., teen Amanda Todd last month has helped turned the nation’s proverbial neck to the underlying issue behind the senseless loss. Her cry for help – a video now viral, posted online a month prior to 15-year-old’s death – has become a call to action, perhaps even to those previously apathetic to the plight of those dealing daily with emotional, physical and online bullying. In honour of Bullying Awareness Week (Nov. 12-17), MuchMusic teamed with a number of Canadian musicians to produce an anti-bully anthem. Included on the cover of the classic “True Colours,” are Lights, Fefe Dobson and Kardinal Offishall, among others.
